Always wanted to play for Barcelona, says Dest

KOLKATA: FC Barcelona defender Sergino Dest, who was roped in by the La Liga club at the beginning of the 2020-21 season, said that he followed his heart when deciding to join the Catalan giants.
"Barcelona was my dream club. I always wanted to play for FC Barcelona and this time I got the opportunity to play for this club. Of course, you know Bayern Munich was also there and it was not an easy choice to make you know.But, I followed my heart. For me to play for this club is something really special," Dest said in quotes shared by LaLiga.
Dest, who is predominantly a right-back but can also operate as a left-back if needed, has come through the ranks at the Ajax youth system and also played for the club's senior team before joining FC Barcelona.
The 20-year old, who represents the United States national team, is adapting to life in Spain and also to the challenges, pressure and expectations that come with playing at a club like FC Barcelona.
"For me, it is very important that I am getting the confidence back. Now, I am confident and I will play like I used to play and I think I have a lot of potential. Playing as a team we will make each other better," he added. "I think there are still many challenges to go. I have always seen these players on television and today I am playing with them."
